Uthayasurian Sidambaram, known to many as Surian, is the managing director at the firm. Surian read law at University College of Wales, Aberystwyth, and graduated with Second (Upper) Division Class of Honours. He cleared the English Bar Exams and was admitted as a Barrister at Law at Gray’s Inn. 

He was subsequently admitted as an Advocate and Solicitor in Singapore in 1991 and has been in private legal practice as a litigator since then.

Surian was made partner in Kurup & Co in 1993 and subsequently joined K S Chia Gurdeep and Param as a Partner in 1994. In 1998, he set up Surian & Partners where he practiced for 22 years, specializing in criminal litigation, commercial litigation, contested divorces and contested estate administration.

He has vast trial experience and is a skilled advocate. Many of his cases have been reported and have often been cited as authority in other cases. His arguments in one case even won praise from the then-Chief Justice Yong Pung How for being “extensive and cogent”.

He is well-known for his integrity, perseverance, and dedication to protecting the interests of his clients while simultaneously upholding his duty to the Court. This client-centric approach places him as a lawyer you can rely on and rest assured knowing you are in safe hands.

Successfully appealed his client’s previous conviction for trafficking heroin. Client had initially been sentenced to death prior to his acquittal.(Tan Chuan Ten and another v Public Prosecutor [1997] SGCA 16)
